As a teacher -

Creating an environment where students feel safe to explore new skills and bring their vision to life is essential.

Whether playing with color, value and composition or improvising techniques to change up a traditional pattern - I find openness to discovery as integral a part of the process as developing the final design solutions.

I’ve been fortunate to study and learn from master crafters; Rosalie DaceKaffe FassettPat PaulySujata ShahAmy ButlerLeslie Tucker Jenison, and Jennifer Sampou over the last decade.

As an artist -

Whether designing for personal use or for a client, the process is intuitive - we begin by articulating the vision or feeling that is in need of expression.

Once the concept is identified a level of trust is required as palette and pattern evolve through process - ultimately piecing a tactile and visual memory unique to each project and client.

Wyman

Though my formal art education culminated with an MFA in performing arts, I’ve always been drawn to textiles.

The colors and textures in my work are influenced by the light of our dramatic coastal landscapes as well as the flora and fauna still found in the surrounding valleys and hills.

I look to balance the practical discipline of craft with my curiosity in the interaction of color - and through this improvisational process of organizing visual space, come away with functional, pragmatic textiles.
